Creativity Exposed - Kick Starting Creativity

The “Creativity Exposed” project is not just another 365 photo project. Instead it's a photographic community brought together with the purpose of providing a creative kick in the pants. To participate we ask you to carry your camera with you at some point during your day (phone cameras are encouraged due to their readiness), stop for a moment and take pictures of the things you notice everyday or the things you've never noticed before. It may be that you pick the time during your commute to work, the first hour of your day while having breakfast or mayve even an evening adventure. Take the time to look at the surroundings you often find yourself in, what do you notice, what sparks your interest?

What do you do with these photos?

You tag them with the keywords "Creativity Exposed" and then upload them to the Lightbox SF Flickr page under the current month’s folder to share with the community.

But there's a catch, we want you to upload the unedited images. Yep, that's right no color correction, no cropping, no touch ups. Just your unedited photos with a description in a sentence or less. Why unedited? We want this project to remain as raw and easy as possible, ignoring needs for perfection. Just let go. Creativity flows more freely with spontaneity, without perfection, and when we appreciate the ideas in their simplest form.

Why have we created “Creativity Exposed”?

Our lives are busy. We are often running from job to appointment, errand to social event and forget to open our eyes to witness what is going on around us. So many things go unnoticed and moments pass by unappreciated. Being so busy is stifling. How much of the mundane beauty of your everyday life do you miss? How much are the creative parts of your mind and heart suffering?

Part-time crafty people have to schedule time to be creative; Thursday studio days, weekday craft nights or an hour or two after everyone goes to bed. Believe it or not, full-time artists have to schedule as well. A couple of days a week are devoted to office days, shipping orders and marketing. For many, these few hours on the computer feel crushing to their creativity and honestly, simply boring. We want you to put a few creative moments back into everyday. They will ripple and affect all you do each day.

This project is a small step toward living a conscious life and will help you tap into your creative energy with only a little effort. Sometimes we forget what makes us feel good and how easy it is to make that happen. Spontaneous iPhone camera applications or finding a space to work that you've never been provoke a creative spark with little effort. This simple and approachable photo project will allow you to bring that spark into your daily life. Whether you are a full-time artist or a weekend hobbyist this project will help you to become more awake to your surroundings, more appreciative of the beauty and interesting things in your day and will allow you to delve into a more exciting energy inside of you.
